June 2010 Lenca Update

There was a tornado in La Puerta, Belen. The tornado did a lot of damage to the pine trees on the land that belongs to the Radio "River of God." 37 pine trees were destroyed by the strong wind of the tornado and other types of trees. It also damaged the roof of the small house, and part of the wire fence of the property, and also the entry gate of the Radio. The tornado was on June 6, 2010 at 2 pm. It lasted about 4 minutes. The sun was shining at the time the tornado happened. Thank God that the office of the Radio Station was spared. The four large pine trees that are above light transformer was held by the hand of God. We need to fix the roof of the small house, cut some trees, repair the wire of the fence, big gate, and do a lot of cleaning. To do all this cleaning and repair we have to obtain a permit and pay a tax in Belen, Lempira.

Some photos show seventeen young women of San Pedrito, Lempira, are are learning to sew. In the first stage the young ladies are learning to do pencil skirts and pleated skirts.

Some photos show a group of children and adults during a service in El Ocotio, Municipio, de Lepaera, Lempira.

Some photos show a group of people in NewZuptal, Copan. We will make a project to purify the water for these families, children are drinking contaminated water now.

One photo shows brother Martin Lopez. Brother Martin is a new believer who was attacked with bullets by a drunken man. This brother lives in the village called Jagua, Lepaera, Lempira.

Some photos show missionary Aurora Murillo helping a group of pregnant women who are waiting in a small house provided by the government to give birth to their children at the Hospital of Gracias. These women come to live in Gracias for two weeks before giving birth. Sometimes we find up to 30 women in a house. Some of these women only eat one meal a day. They do not have money to buy food. For that reason many of the children are born malnourished.

One photo shows a hammock bridge which we travel to a village called Los Protreros. The the river took the bridge last week during the tropical storm. Three people accepted Christ in this village. The last photos show Pastor and Leader Training from April of this year.
