About Evelyn

Evelyn Newell picMae Evelyn Newell is a former Pastor's wife.  She and her husband Sam were married for 43 years when Sam went home to be with the Lord.  Beginning in 1967, they pastored churches in Texas, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona. Evelyn returned to Lancaster, Texas where her family and long-time friends reside.  She has been allowing the Lord to heal her of the loss of her husband.  Her home church is Eastridge Baptist Church in Red Oak.Hand in Hand Ministries has been a passion of hers for many, many years.  Being in the ministry and living far away from family has given Evelyn a real appreciation for family and friends.  Beginning this minstry for pastors' wives is the result of a calling God gave her so long ago.

Evelyn has three grown children, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

A Note from Evelyn

My name is Evelyn Newell. Hand In Hand Ministries is one of Encouragement, Prayer Support, Affirmation, and Fellowship for wives of pastors and church staff.  This ministry began in my heart many years ago while I was a pastor’s wife, but was unable to see it become a reality until a couple of years ago.  I am a member of Eastridge Baptist Church in Red Oak.  Women who are wives of pastors and/or church staff members or who hold a position as a church staff member are very special people and need a very special support team.  My husband was pastor of churches in Texas, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona and having been a pastor’s wife for over 30 years I can identify with the ministry needs that you may have.  God has blessed me with the privilege of praying for you, encouraging you, and hopefully having fellowship with you.  I want to be your friend and prayer partner.

Some of the concerns I had as a pastor’s wife are listed below.  How would you rate these topics in order of priority in your life? I am sure you’ve had some of the same concerns.

·  How do I maintain a normal home life while giving so much time to the church?

·  What is my true calling? Do I have a calling? Am I being able to fulfill that calling?

·  Is there someone that will pray for me and with me?

·  What if I can’t live up to the church’s expectations of me?

·  Why are my children held as role models far above the other children of the church?

·  Why do I have to live so far away from my family?

There may be other issues that are of concern to you. I would like to follow up with a personal phone call and/or meeting.  I will pray with you and be an encourager and an advocate. I look forward to hearing from you.  I have enclosed a brochure to explain Hand In Hand Ministries and a business card.  If I can be of help to you, or if your have a special prayer request, I would welcome the opportunity to pray with you and for you.  I look forward to meeting you.

Hand in Hand with God,

Evelyn Newell
